Engine 463 simulates exposure protection during a gas main fire evolution.
The members of Engine and Truck Company 463 were able to spend the morning of April 22nd at Washington Gas' Training Facility "Pipe Town" participating in practical evolutions of natural gas emergencies and incidents. The crews trained on responses to residential gas incidents, as well as hands-on live fire evolutions dealing with broken gas mains & natural gas fueled fires. The crews trained on controlling shutoff valves during meter/pipeline fires, and structural exposure protection with gas main fires. The crews were also educated on "walking fires" that eminate from underground pipelines.
Crews from Engine & Truck 463 make the push on a gas-fed fire while training on natural gas valve control.
